Great projects!

Thank you the whole English School for sharing with us pieces of your wonderful project outcomes!

We would like to put here more examples, but we have to take into account the privacy policy concerning the pupils in pictures and videos. Please teachers, put here links to some of the material suitable for public use, eg. by contacting us.

The fifth grade used a wiki for their Fantasyland writing project, here a screenshot to somehow show it. Ask the classes and teachers for more information.

Pre-schoolers' drew and recorded a Halloween picture story, here a short clip of it.

Thank you for the whole learning project, we too have learned a lot :-)

We hope that you find time to continue the nice collaborative work among teachers and different classes! This project was aiming to start some continuing processes in your school. Come on using ICT!

Best regards,
Päivi, Mari and Annukka

Here are some samples what pupils have made in third and sixth grades.
These are EVS ideacards for Prezi. The sixth grade pupils made a short documentary how to play chess.

The final meeting is approaching :-)

On Thursday 14th we will be learning from each other!

The final meeting is supposed to focus on pupils' processes and project outcomes with the teachers' support. If you have some of the project outcomes online, e.g. in Google Drive, Blog etc. please add the links to your planning document.

Timetable for Thursday, 14th of November

  • 11-12 a.m. preschool2 and grades 1-3 at gym hall
  • 12-13 p.m. preschool1 and grades 4-6 at gym hall
  • 14-14.30 p.m. self-assessment and evaluation of the project in computing class
For self-assessment of learning during the project we use Socrative.com application, which is a useful tool to make quizes for pupils as well.

To be discussed in evaluation:
  • What was learned and accomplished? What could had been done else?
  • How to continue sharing know-how, experiences and ideas?

The Finnish Board of Education, which funded the training also asks for your feedback. Please all, fill in the electronic questionnaire. Thank you!

Though this training ends, your activities will go on with collaboration and new ideas!

Getting into action!

Yesterday we had an excellent day with Ipad minis with the 2nd graders. Okay, I admit, not everything was so excellent - but they were just technical problems. :-) Otherwise the teachers Marja and Sophie had done excellent job with the planning and preparing everything. Altogether 50 pupils and 5 adults were working together in a different places; at classroom, computer lab and inside and outside the school building.

What did we do then? Well, that you'll find out next week in the final meeting!

P.s. Here is one photo though as a teaser. ;-)

In this week we met with Tiina&Mikko and Leija&Riikka. Both pares are doing very inspiring ICT-projects. Six grades are filming & editing short documents with iPads. The third grade are making Finnish animal presentation in EVS with PowerPoint. The timetable in the teachers room are looking good, but remember that we will have presentations in Thursday 14th November:)

Getting on with the planning

Last Thursday 23. Oct I met James from the 1. grade and Marja from the 2. grade (their pairs Kaarina and Sophie weren´t unfortunately able to come to the meetings). Both of their plans sounded great and I´m happy to see how they will go on. Kaarina and James (working pair 7) were planning audio recordings with their students so they could follow their students´ proceeding with reading. Marja and Sophie (working pair 8) had a very nice idea as well – they were planning either making a video or a blog where their students will do “virtual postcards” to their penpals in U.S.A.

Meeting with Kaisu and Mark oct. 23rd

We had a inspiring meeting as working pair Kaisu and Mark had draamatic plans! I liked their student approach. Students way of seeing healthy world through scripting, filming, editing and finally the presentation is just awesome! I'll be there at the final meeting to see the maybe 2.0 versions!
